So, Casper started a nice conversation friday about fast cars we have owned , driven , etc...which led me to pose this question...What's the fastest car you have actually touched. Lots of people have been in the presence of fast cars , but often can't get close enough to make contact. I consider myself lucky to have touched the Summers's brothers LSR car Goldenrod, back when I was on the state fair circuit. Also , I've ridden shotgun in a nitrous injected ZR1, but that's another story...

To be honest, I don't quite remember. All I remember is that I sat in quite a few really fast cars when I was a kid. I think one of them may or may not have been an F1 car, possibly belonging to the unsuccessful Jaaaaag team.

No pics, but I got to fuck around with a 70 GTO funny car that ran 5 second quarters when I was 13. I got to sit in it and make sure the throttle didn't get stuck!

I don't generally touch cars, I'm always afraid the alarm goes nuts. I remember having done so with an Unipower GT and earlier, with a Ford StreetKa, though.

Touched two of this bad boys at the Pagani Factory. One was the car on Top Gear receiving a service and the other was " run of the mill ".

HPD ARX-03a LMP1 car in AMLS. Got to touch it during the Baltimore GP last year. Granted at the time I didn't know anything about racing, so I didn't know if it was a P1, P2, or PC car.

I've touched a Murcielago...MP4-12C Spider...959... I think the Murcielago has the highest claimed top speed of those, but they're all just above the 200mph mark.

I also did see an S7, FXX, Enzo, F40, Bugattis, a Michael Schumacher F1 Ferrari and a ton of other exotics at The Celebration Exotic Car festival a couple of years ago, but I didn't touch them. I try not to touch other people's cars when I'm at car shows, and I've taught my kids the same.

I got sit in an NSX at a C&C gathering once.

It was awesome.

I'm not sure if I would count it, but at a different C&C gathering, I accidentally bumped my head on the interior of the driver side door of an SLS AMG.

Ferrari F430 Spyder (Spider?) I drove in Maranello! Granted It was only for 10 min and I was not allowed to left-foot brake... Still though, the nice Italian gentleman who accompanied me (read: non english speaking rental company chaperone.) made me stop in the middle of a highway so I could test the launch control! I did 0-155kph with my foot slammed all the way to the floor, V8 screaming through the gears behind me. Best 10 min of my life. Anyway, its the F430 or a Bently Continental GTC (didn't get to drive that one...)

The opposite, I touched the Original first Mercedes at a car show.

There was no one around, and I reached over and touched it.

It now has my fingerprint on it.

I believe it was the first time they showed the 2009 Mercedes F-cell.

But my fastest car ?

Probably a 86' Corvette or a 65' Mustang .
